Generations of children have learnt to read with Ladybird. Children love the lively phonics and pre-reading
storybooks for their rhythmic text and lively illustrations; whilst the pace and progression of Ladybird's four main reading
schemes build confidence and ensure success.
Parents trust Ladybird to get it right, drawing on their own experiences of reading with Ladybird to develop
their own children's love of reading.

Ladybird Reading Schemes
A Story to Share - offers pre-readers a chance to read along with Mum or Dad. These books
are specially written with the full story on the left hand page for the adult to read, while the child can join in with simple
words, phrases or sentences that appear on the right hand page.
Rhythm and Rhyme - uses rich rhymes and fantastic flaps to encourage early awareness of phonics
and sound patterns in words. Each great rhyming story contains flaps for children to lift, and shout the word underneath.
Ladybird Phonics - a series of richly rhyming and funny stories which introduce children
to over 40 English language phonemes and the letter groups to which they correspond. Written to match school learning, each
book contains a collection of short rhyming stories and uses highlighted text to emphasise the key sounds in each story to
encourage children to sound out and build words. Ideal to use alongside other learn to read series. Phonics Activity books
support phonic reading and spelling alongside the first two years of primary school.
Read with Ladybird - a simply, structured reading programme that uses stories, rhymes and
non-fiction texts for maximum enjoyment and interest. Each section uses a limited number of words and repeats them regularly,
which helps children to recognise words easily. The pictures work closely with the stories and rhymes to give children plenty
of help with word recognition. Complements teaching methods used in schools.
Read it Yourself - a series of beautifully illustrated traditional tales and informative
non-fiction, written with a carefully structured vocabulary to make them accessible to young readers. The four levels use
a progressively wider vocabulary to challenge new readers as their reading abilities improve.
Key Words Reading Scheme - successful with generations of children all over the world, the
Key Words scheme is structured to ensure rapid reading confidence. Key Words are the words which are most frequently used
in the English language. The 'A' books introduce new vocabulary; the 'B' books repeat these words; and the 'C' books link
reading with writing and phonics.
Read with Me - uses the Key Words method of learning to read. In this series Tom and Kate
are the main characters and new vocabulary is introduced more rapidly in a fresh, modern style. Uses the 'look and say' approach
to learning to read. Pronunciation and meaning are developed through regular introduction and repetition of essential key
words. Practice and Play activity books reinforce the first six graded readers.
